eye conjunctiva study

Inflammatory eye conjunctiva caused by infection, physical irritation, or allergic response known as conjunctivitis. In inflammation, conjunctiva becomes red, swollen, and sore pressed. Conjunctivitis due to bacterial infection is sometimes called red eye (pink eye). Red eyes can occur alone, or can occur simultaneously with an ear infection. Viral conjunctivitis is often caused by adenovirus infection. Bacterial and viral conjunctivitis is highly contagious. Allergic conjunctivitis occurs as part of inflammatory reactions against environmental allergens. Physical stimulation by a foreign object in the eye and menginflamasi will also irritate the conjunctiva, causing inflammation and pain.

Clinical Overview
* Red and swollen conjunctiva. In infection or allergic conjunctivitis, both eyes usually affected.
* Photophobia (aversi to light).
* Rabas is a characteristic purulent bacterial conjunctivitis. Infection and rabas often starts in one eye and spreads to the other eye. The eyes may be closed by a membrane greenness.
* Watery and clear Rabas is characteristic of viral conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis often accompanies viral upper respiratory infection.
* The heat and itching of the eye is a characteristic of allergic conjunctivitis.
* Conjunctivitis due to foreign body is associated with discomfort and feeling like there is sand or fine gravel in the eye. Usually with a foreign object, only one eye is affected.

Diagnosis
* Diagnosis after history and physical examination. Cultures may be necessary in some circumstances.
* Foreign body in the eye must be visualized by using a special lamp, called a Wood's lamp.

Complication
* Certain bacterial infections (gonorrhea, chlamydia konjungtivitas some kind) and viral infections can cause permanent damage to the eye if not treated.
* Foreign body in the eye can cause corneal abrasion and the formation of scar tissue.
* Konjungtivitas can be early symptoms of severe systemic disease, which is Kawasaki disease. This disease is one of widespread vasculitis affecting many organs, including heart, brain, joints, Kati, and rnata. This disease begins acutely with high fever, followed briefly by a significant bilateral conjunctivitis due to the absence rabas and a long process. Rash and swelling of the hands and feet accompanied these early symptoms. Early diagnosis is important to prevent damage to the coronary artery. Therapy for Kawasaki disease include the use of aspirin and gamma globulin.

Management
* Bacterial Conjunctivitis is usually treated with antibiotic eye drops or creams, but often cured in about two weeks even without treatment. Because of bacterial conjunctivitis is highly contagious among family members and school friends, needed a good hand washing techniques and towels for the separation of infected individuals. Family members should not be exchanged pillow or bed sheets.
* Konjungtivitas are also associated with otitis media treated with systemic antibiotics. Warm compresses to the eye may issue rabas.
* Viral Conjunctivitis is usually treated with warm compresses. Good hand washing technique is required to prevent transmission.
* Allergic conjunctivitis is treated by avoiding the allergen if possible. Antihistamines or eye drops that contain steroids may be used to reduce itching and inflammation.
* Conjunctivitis caused by irritants is treated by removing the foreign body, followed by the use of antibacterial drugs.
